Abstract

The elderly are individuals who experience physical changes, causing a decrease in dynamic balance and increasing the risk of falling. According to Nugroho, in 2014 the elderly had a risk of falling around 30-50% every year. In addition, the incidence of falls in the elderly who live in nursing homes for the elderly are also many, including the Margaguna nursing home in Jakarta about 12% and the Cipayung nursing home as much as 13%. One of the causes of the risk of falling is a decrease in balance in the elderly. In the elderly there are physiological changes in the musculoskeletal and neurological systems. In the musculoskeletal system there will be morphological changes that can cause a decrease in muscle strength, while neurological changes in the form of decreased body reflex responses. These changes will cause a decrease in balance in the elderly, which will result in the risk of falling. So that the purpose of this activity is to provide motion exercises in the form of gymnastics in order to improve dynamic balance and reduce the risk of falling in elderly residents of nursing homes.
