Saat ini popularitas rokok elektronik atau vape sebagai alternatif rokok konvensional sering dianggap sebagai pilihan yang lebih aman, kenyataannya, rokok elektrik ini mengandung berbagai zat adiktif yang berbahaya dan dapat menjadi pemicu kanker paru-paru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran kandungan zat kimia dalam vape yang menjadi potensi terhadap sel kanker paru-paru. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tinjauan literatur naratif, sekaligus mencari referensi yang relevan dengan permasalahan yang sedang diteliti menggunakan database dari Google Scholar, PubMed, dan ScienceDirect. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cairan vape mengandung berbagai zat kimia berbahaya, di antaranya nikotin, propilen glikol, gliserin, logam berat (seperti kromium dan nikel), serta Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines (TSNAs) yang dapat berdampak negatif pada kesehatan. Zat-zat ini bersifat karsinogenik dan dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif, peradangan kronis, serta kerusakan DNA, yang semuanya berkontribusi pada perkembangan kanker, terutama kanker paru-paru. Tingginya kandungan logam berat dalam vape dapat meningkatkan risiko paparan racun dalam jangka panjang. Namun, hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa belum ada mekanisme yang dijelaskan secara mendetail mengenai bagaimana zat adiktif dalam vape dapat memicu munculnya sel kanker paru-paru. Oleh karena itu, diharapkan akan ada penelitian lebih lanjut untuk menggali lebih dalam tentang hubungan zat-zat adiktif dalam vape dengan perkembangan sel kanker.
