Pendahuluan : Perawat sebagai tenaga kesehatan yang paling banyak menghabiskan waktu bersama pasien memiliki peran penting untuk proses weaning pasien dari ventilasi mekanik. Perawat harus mengidentifikasi dengan cepat dan akurat tentang kemampuan pasien untuk dilakukan proses weaning, hal ini tentunya membutuhkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman perawat, sehingga perawat kritis membutuhkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman substansial untuk menangani pasien berventilasi. Tujuan: meningkatkan pengetahuan peneliti tentang peran perawat dalam melakukan weaning ventilasi mekanis. Metode: Tahapan yang dilakukan adalah identifikasi, skrining dan kriteria inklusi. PRISMA flowchart digunakan untuk menampilkan alur pencarian evidence. Hasil: terdapat 7 artikel yang didapatkan dari proses pencarian. Studi literature ini menunjukkan adanya peran yang sangat besar dari perawat kritis dalam hal proses weaning ventilasi mekanik, mulai dari menginisiasi proses weaning ventilasi mekanik dengan melakukan kolaboratif interdisiplin terutama dengan dokter, persiapan pasien dan keluarga (patient centered care) sampai dengan mengobservasi periode pelepasan ventilasi mekanik. Simpulan: Peran perawat dalam melakukan weaning ventilasi mekanik sangat besar. Peran utama perawat saat weaning adalah mengobservasi periode pelepasan awal berdasarkan kondisi pasien atau menganjurkan untuk menginisiasi program weaning. Karena pasien merupakan factor yang paling berpengaruh dalam keberhasilan weaning ventilasi mekanis sebanyak 85%.
